What does the team do?
The team is about helping each other develop as riders in a supportive team setting. We have regular practices with options for riders of all abilities.
Are there races?
In the spring the Washington Student Cycling League runs 4 races, starting the end of April. The race schedule can be found on the Events page.
What if I don’t have a bike?
If you don’t have a bike or you don’t have a good bike to ride on the trails, contact us and we can help find you a bike that meets your needs.
Do I have to race?
No, you don’t have to race. That said, the races are a great opportunity to travel with the team, meet other kids, ride bikes together, and challenge yourself.
What ages can participate?
Currently 6th-12th grade. The Methow Cycling Team runs the Spring program for the Washington Student Cycling League. Unfortunately, the league starts at 6th grade and we have several 4th and 5th graders who would like to ride. We have been working with several parents to put together a satellite program for these younger kids.
When are practices?
Practices are every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the season. You can see the full schedule on the Calendar page.
What’s the cost?
It is $210 to register for the league, which includes insurance and race fees. We are committed as a team to be sure that everyone regardless of ability to pay is able to ride and participate on the team. If the fees are out of reach or your child cannot afford a decent bike, don’t let that dissuade them from entering. Let us know and we will find the resources so that they can participate.
Can I ride with my child?
Yes! Parents are highly encouraged to come and ride with your child. It’s fun and will give you an excuse to spend just a little bit more time with your teenager before they head off into the world. Who knows, you might enjoy mountain biking yourself.
