If you don’t like where you are, PEDAL! ~ Susie Stephens
Biking transforms lives. The simple act of self propulsion brings independence, joy, and community. Meanwhile, biking also depends on foundational skills such as balance and regular maintenance. The Methow Cycling Team fosters a love of cycling for all students from grades 6-12, and is a member of the Washington Student Cycling League (WSCL). We believe in pedal power!
We need your support THIS MONTH during Give Methow. Give Methow is our biggest annual fundraiser, and it is an important way to show appreciation for our volunteer coaches, and also to ensure that our program remains accessible and affordable for every rider.
In 2024 the Methow Cycling Team had 34 riders, along with eight all-volunteer coaches. Our team trained for three days/week for a five-month long season (3 months in the spring, and 2 months in the fall), and in addition to trail riding this year we added strength training twice a week.
Our team went to seven WSCL races in 2024, and had students on numerous podiums at every race. We also had several trail stewardship days, which included building trails, pulling weeds, raking, creating jumps and pruning. Best of all, we are a community of friends who encourage riders of all abilities and backgrounds to get out and enjoy the ride!
This year we are working to build our scholarship fund so that we can ensure every student who wants to join our team can do so. We also want to make sure that our loaner bikes are well-maintained, and possibly add one more loaner bike to our fleet. We believe that every kid should have the opportunity to PEDAL!
